Holiday.
Things.
So, how do we find balance and freedom with our nutrition & physical activity, esp during the holidays? Keep these ideas in mind & remember to extend yourself a little grace:
You CAN enjoy the holiday season without completely going off the rails! You can! Tell yourself that & truly believe it!
You always have the choice to course-correct each day! Don't write off an entire day, the week or the entire month of December because you made the choice to indulge in something special. Use the "Clean-Slate" policy & start each day new.
You can choose to focus on an 80/20 mindset: 80% of the time - eat all the healthy things, 20% of the time - enjoy the special things | 80% of the time - get your physical activity in, 20% of the time - let it slide.
Be very mindful of your choices! Truly savor & enjoy those special foods/drinks that you look forward to this time of year. Slow down & be grateful!
Make up your mind before the special event... What will you enjoy & what will you pass on? And ask yourself what will success look like to you at the end of the event?
Lastly - and this is a tip that I've had to learn over & over & over again - don't STARVE yourself all day to SAVE calories for the big meal/special event. This will only make your more ravenous & encourage extreme over eating & bad choices. Instead, have light & healthy options for the other meals & snacks on the day of the event.
